Location: CARES- Cardinal Autism Resource Educational School with Mentor Public Schools

Title: Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
Reports To: Director of Pupil Services
Employment Status: Full Time 188 days (Certified Calendar)
FLSA Status: Exempt
 
Description:  Responsible for supporting and providing the tools needed to Intervention Specialists and Classroom Assistants in order for them to correctly follow student behavior plans, collect data and report on behavior. Participate as a member of the crisis team as well as lead the team in crisis situations. Plan and implement social skills groups as needed. Make visual supports as needed and work with the Director and Assistant Director of CARES to set up the structure of each classroom in order to prevent behavior issues. 
Qualifications:
  1. Valid driver's license.
  2. Appropriate Ohio Educational License through the Ohio Department of Education
  3.  Appropriate Board Certified Behavioral Analyst License.
  4. Experience supporting students with autism, ages 6 to 22.
  5. Demonstrates a sincere desire to aid all students.
  6. Good health, high moral character, and good attendance record.
  7. Must be certified in Crisis Intervention Prevention.
  8. Thorough knowledge, understanding and appreciation for the elements of structure as outlined in the TEACCH methodology and how they are uses to support the learning process of individuals with autism.
  9. Proficiency in implementing a Behavior Intervention Plan and the ability to communicate and demonstrate that to other staff members.
  10. Physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, kneel, crouch, or crawl; lift up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required of this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  11. Shall meet requirements for employment governed by federal and state laws i.e., BCI&I and FBI check.
  12. Expectations include ability to read, analyze, interpret assessments and reports, write compliance reports, and professional correspondence, effectively present information and respond to administration, students, families and the general public.
 
General Description: Assesses, coordinates, and implements behavior analysis services and behavior interventions plans for general education and special education students with complex/less involved and/or severe/predictable behaviors in enrolled educational programs; Provides support and professional learning opportunities to Mentor Public Schools staff, and parents/guardians in the appropriate use of behavior analysis methodologies and intervention techniques; Conducts assessments and develops plans that conform to IDEA, Ohio law and regulations and the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
  1.  Maintains professional ethical standards and complies with ESC and school assignment policies and procedures.
  2. Provide and help develop behavioral services at all three RTI Tier levels.
  3. Develops professional development opportunities, materials, and provides resources for administrators, educators, paraprofessionals, and other support staff of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and/or other evidenced based methodologies related to addressing the needs of students with behavioral challenges in accordance to federal/state/IDEA laws and regulations. 
  4. Observes and gathers data for administration of Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and implementation of Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIP). Effectively develop plans as directed by data and assessments. 
  5.  Creates and assists contracted district staff & ESC staff with the development and implementation of behavior intervention plans (BIP’s), ABA programs, and other appropriate programs for students with behavior/learning challenges.
  6.  Provides direct intervention services to students who exhibit inappropriate behaviors and proves support and professional learning for staff who work with these students. May be directed by a Behavior Intervention Plan, Individualized Education Plan.
  7.  Manage assaultive behaviors by using best practices and as a last resort, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI).
  8.  Effectively provide clinical supervision of Registered Behavioral Technicians (RBT) as directed by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
  9.  Attends county, district, and staff meetings (seminars, conferences, workshops, and so forth) as adopted in the district's calendar unless excused by the Director of Exceptional Services.
 
 
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Serves as a role model for educators and students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.
2. Assist with successful student transitions for students who are transition to or from an alternative placement 
3. Collaborate with public and private agencies to offer recommendations and consultation that foster 
appropriate social skills and prevent behaviors for the purpose of effective learning in the educational environment.
4. Shall perform such other duties as the governing board may assign/determine.
5. The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the
County/District
6. Observes Risk Reduction Safety Rules and Regulations of the E.S.C. of Northeast Ohio and Euclid City School District, State, Federal OSHA laws and will be evaluated to the extent of compliance and implementation as an employee on such rules and regulations for safety in the workplace while visiting such sites in line of work duties.

ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
2. Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions.
3. Occasional interaction among unruly children.
